Meet Betsy "The Amazon" Hansen
Betsy "The Amazon" Hansen started her lifting career on Feb 22nd 2010 when she walked into Tryon Gym of Dell Rapids South Dakota. As a matter of fact it was her first time walking into a gym since she graduated from school. At the age of 44 this mother of a 17 yr old son and a 15 yr old daughter also the owner of "Helping Hands Day Care" has a competitive drive found rarely in those half her age. When she was introduced to the sport of powerlifting by her trainer she immediatley took to it and enthralled herself into the sport. Since starting Betsy has competed in 3 powerlifting meets and one strongman/woman competition, she has set 2 state IBPA records 1 in MN and 1 in SD and has also landed herself a spot as the vice president of the Dell Rapids Powerlifting Club. A typical training layout for the week in Betsy's case consists of Legs on Mondays, Chest on Wednesdays, Back on Fridays and brush up / weakpoint training on Saturdays. She always makes sure to incorporate the core powerlifting movements squat, bench press and deadlift on their respective days. Although she is still working on dialing in her diet when she does feel the need to have a snack she enjoys kettle cooked potatoe chips. When She isnt throwing weights around at the gym she also enjoys riding horse, cooking, running, cleaning and also enjoys being a track coach.
