Estherville lifters set records in S.D.

COLTON, S.D. - A pair of Estherville weight lifters competed in the IBPA Midwest Battle Royal Power lifting Championships in Colton, S.D. this past Saturday.

Both performed very well.

Grant Lausen, competing in the Teen 1 Division, 165-pound weight class, placed first in two events and second in another while setting two South Dakota State records.

His lift of 220 pounds in the bench press set the state record and placed first.

Lausen placed second in the dead lift with 320 pounds.

The total weight of 540 pounds for the push/pull event placed him first and set the state record.

Lance Zimmerman, competed in the Masters 1 Division, 220-pound weight class.

His first place lift of 315 pounds also set the South Dakota State Record for the bench press.

Both lifters train with Connie Alvarez II at his home in Estherville.

Alvarez II was nominated by both the IBPA South Dakota State representative Ryan Tellberg and the IBPA Minnesota State & National Representative Brent Mielke to be the new IBPA Iowa State Representative.
